Join an expert panel from the cultural sector as they discuss the challenges and opportunities of curating colonialism and silenced histories.
Join Zandra Yeaman, Curator of Discomfort, Hunterian Museum, Glasgow; Sushma Jansari, Tabor Foundation Curator: South Asia, British Museum, London; and Alex Patterson, Assistant Curator of Fine Art, National Museums Liverpool (Walker Art Gallery) in a discussion linked to Peltz Gallery’s current exhibition Paper Cuts: Art, Bureaucracy, & Silenced Histories in Colonial India.
Paper Cuts examines a collection of works on paper made by British colonialists in nineteenth-century India. Seen in public for the first time, the collection is placed into dialogue with contemporary artworks by Ravista Mehra and Divya Sharma. Paper Cuts critically reflects on the silencing effect of the colonial archive – and points toward a more equitable future.
