VOICE: The Working-Class Voice in Contemporary Culture

25 July 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Categorised:

Join us to celebrate the abundance, diversity and richness in contemporary working-class culture. To mark Future Cities, a collaborative exhibition between The National Poetry Library and Arts Council Collection, we ask what the future might look like if we amplify the voices of our working-class artists?

Working-class culture is often spoken about in terms of what it is not or what it lacks, defaulting to a middle-class centre ground. The neoliberal agenda told us that we should all want to be middle-class, we should want to escape our roots, hollowing out working-class culture. This event will celebrate contemporary working-class voices across both visual art and poetry.

Tickets are free but limited. To register your interest in the event please click here.

Travel bursaries are available, please email [email protected] for further information.

Please let us know if you have any access needs and we will be happy to accommodate.
