Abeer Eladany is a Curatorial Assistant at University of Aberdeen responsible for the Art Collection since 2018. Her role involves curating the Art Collection as well as planning and coordinating art instillations across the university. She also supports the curation of other University Collections such as the Human Culture Collections. She is currently a member of Slavery, Empire and Scotland’s Museums, a steering group led by Museums Galleries Scotland and is working on a public consultation to inform how Scotland’s existing and future museum collections and spaces can better recognise and represent a more accurate portrayal of Scotland’s colonial and slavery history.
Abeer studied Conservation and Egyptian Archaeology at Cairo University where she developed her interest and knowledge of Ancient Egyptian Art and Culture. She then worked in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo for over a decade before moving to the UK to study for an MSc and PhD in Egyptology investigating collections housed at the British Museum, London.
While working as an Archaeologist in Aberdeen, she further continued her academic development by studying for an MLitt in Museum studies at University of Aberdeen, as well as volunteering in many local museums and heritage groups.
