Andrew Heard

Andrew Heard is currently Visitor Programmes Manager at Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens, Durham. Ushaw, a former Catholic seminary and recently opened heritage attraction, has a diverse collection of fine art, books, textiles and metalware, all housed within architecturally significant Classical and Gothic Revival buildings. An ongoing programme of temporary exhibitions and displays is widening access to Ushaw’s collections.

An art history graduate with a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree, Heard has nearly 40 years’ experience in the art world. This has encompassed work at auction houses, public museums and galleries and online. Heard has curated a number of significant and diverse art exhibitions including a major rehang of the collections of the Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead and an important retrospective exhibition of the work of William Roberts (1895-1980) at the Hatton Gallery, Newcastle. The catalogue for the Roberts exhibition was shortlisted for the Art Newspaper/AXA Art Exhibition Catalogue of the Year Award.
