Cátia Rodrigues

Cátia Rodrigues is a PhD candidate at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her doctoral research is reviewing the initial years of the Pre-Raphaelite Movement from the perspective of the collectives of women who contributed to its artistic, cultural, and literary expansion. Her aim is to unveil the diverse artistic networks formed by women who participated in the movement as artists, patrons, models, art-critics, and writers. Her research explores the extent to which the women’s participation affected the group’s artistic identity, and the public recognition of the Pre-Raphaelite network as an artistic movement. Cátia’s research interests include thus the relationship between art and literature in the nineteenth century, arts and crafts, creative circles and partnerships, and women’s writings and art.

Cátia is currently part of the Association for Art History’s Doctoral and Early Career Research (DECR) committee, holding the roles of Dissertation Prize Coordinator and Legacy Officer. Cátia is also Newsletter Editor and committee member of the Women’s History Network. Her professional background includes various roles at museums and heritage institutions, including the Egham Museum, where she curated the exhibition Picturing Egham, and the Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village.
