Claire Emilie Hammond

Claire Emilie Hammond is currently Project Coordinator at the National Trust for Scotland (NTS), managing strategic projects that unite the cultural heritage sector with visual arts under Dr Jennifer Melville. Previously, she coordinated the Facing Our Past project which looked at addressing the NTS’s colonial connections and links to historic enslavement histories.

Recent projects include Annalee Davis’s Contesting Landscapes of Distraction (2022) at Balmacara Estate, Maud Sulter: Memory and Identity (2022) at Pollok House, and Billy Gerard Frank’s week-long artist residency (2023) at Culzean Castle. Her interests lie in the fusion of historic spaces with contemporary art and design. She will be continuing to work with celebrated artists, including Jesse Jones, to bring Scottish stories to life. In 2024, Claire was awarded funding from the Jonathan Ruffer Foundation for travel to the 60th Annual Venice Biennale.
