Claire Mander is a curator of large scale, complex site-specific installations beyond the white cube, usually outdoors and in unusual places for the benefit of the public and to enhance the practice and appreciation of contemporary sculpture in all its forms. She has been interrogating the relationship between people, land and art since 2011 as founder/director of registered charity theCOLAB. She established ‘the Artist’s Garden’, the central London sculpture garden dedicated to the work of women artists in 2021, is the founder and co-director of the Morecambe Bay Triennial and runs an annual drawing residency BODY and PLACE. She has realised over 50 exhibitions/site-specific commissions including SKULPTUR, bringing 17 Nordic sculptors across three sites in London and five landscape art commissions in Morecambe Bay. She is Director of the Board of the National Festival of Making NPO, sits on the Westminster City of Sculpture panel and London’s Riverfront Strategy Steering Group. She is the former Chair of UK Friends of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and former Deputy Director of the Royal Society of Sculptors.
