Claire Ó Nualláin

Claire Ó Nualláin began a PhD in History of Art at the Courtauld lnstitute of Art in 2024. Her research, funded by CHASE and supervised by Dr Kyle Leyden and Dr Esther Chadwick, explores the relationship between antiquarianism, the fine arts and Protestant identity in Ireland in the late eighteenth century.

She previously worked as Curatorial Assistant at Christ Church Picture Gallery from 2021-2024. Here, she curated an exhibition of engraved portraits by Robert Nanteuil from the collection of Dean Henry Aldrich (1648-1710), entitled Illustrious Persons: immortalising the Faces of Bureaucracy, Robert Nanteuil 1623-1678.

Claire completed her MA in Eighteenth Century Studies at King’s College London, and her BA in History at Trinity College Dublin. She has also held roles with the Walpole Society, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and at Dublin Castle.
