Dot Jia works between London and Manchester. She is the associate curator at CFCCA (Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art), and a lecturer in critical studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her academic, curatorial, and creative work focuses on decolonial, feminist modes of storytelling and togetherness. She is a working group member of the Feminist Duration Reading Group and the co-founder of chán magazine.
She completed studies in psychology in Germany and received an MFA in Curating with distinction from Goldsmiths, University of London with a focus in linguistic politics and women’s writing, as well as an MA with Distinction in History of Art from The Courtauld Insitute of Art with a focus in Contemporary Chinese Art and Geopolitics. She is the recipient of ACE Lottery Project Grants, The University of Bristol Writing Bursary, Goldsmiths Curating Departmental Bursary, Jacobs University Bremen Merit-based scholarship, among others. She has previously collaborated with Shanghai Power Station of Art, Goldsmiths CCA, Chisenhale Gallery, Blindspot Gallery, The Mosaic Rooms, etc.
