Prerona Prasad

Dr Prerona Prasad was Curator of The Heong Gallery at Downing College, Cambridge between 2016 and 2024. During this time, she curated a wide array of exhibitions of contemporary art and visual culture and steered the Gallery’s programming through the COVID pandemic. She has worked collaboratively with multiple artists, institutions, and guest curators to create site-specific exhibitions of high quality, accompanied by engaging public and education programmes. She has edited eleven exhibition catalogues and written on the artists Issam Kourbaj, Soheila Sokhanvari, Gavin Turk, and Stuart Pearson Wright, as well as on the printmaker Kip Gresham and the comic strips of Charles M. Schulz. Her personal research interests include diaspora art, representation, and curatorial ethics.

For three years, she offered a free online course on contemporary art through the community initiative What To Do Today, which started as a way of combating isolation and connecting people to each other and the arts during the COVID pandemic. She has also taught a course on Contemporary Art: Future Collections for the Downing College Keio University Summer School.
