Elleanna Chapman is an artist and communist, based in London. She works across media to explore the political potential of art to catalyse class struggle and is interested in juxtaposing proletarian militancy with the pop cultural and cute.
Having completed a foundation in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London, in 2021, Chapman graduated with First Class Honours from The Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, in 2024. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has completed residencies at WOMB with Bow Arts, Cambridge Artworks and Artspace, The Koppel Project, and Hypha Studios.
In 2022, Chapman was awarded the Egerton Coghill Landscape Prize for her video essex.mov, which was later screened as part of the S for Southend exhibition at Focal Point Gallery, Essex. She then went on to be awarded The Supporting Act Foundation’s Creative Bursary for emerging politically engaged artists in 2023.
Underpinning her practice, Chapman is an active member of The Revolutionary Communist International, leading her to consistently engage with working-class histories, propaganda strategies, and current affairs. She has also run workshops with Modern Art Oxford, The Bodleian Libraries, The Koppel Project, Bow Arts and Grrrl Zine Fair (including projects with the British Academy, Cement Fields, and Adidas) and is co-producer of Grafters Collective – a support network for emerging, working-class artists which aims to challenge the deeply rooted classism within the art world.
