Elliot Gibbons is Assistant Curator, Public Programmes at Tate Modern and Tate Britain. Prior to this, he was awarded Arts Council England funding to independently curate an exhibition featuring artists such as Sunil Gupta, alongside a film commission, a 105-page publication, and events programme titled ‘Southend’s Twilight Worlds’.
Elliot holds an MA in the History of Art from UCL, where his dissertation on the work of the late artist Hamad Butt was awarded the Oxford Art Journal Prize for Best Dissertation. His academic performance was further recognised by being chosen for the Dean’s List 2023. He also holds a BA (hons) in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts (UAL). His writing has been published by thisistomorrow, AQNB, Object and TEXTE ZUR KUNST.
Elliot’s research interests include queer British art during the HIV/AIDs crisis, queer, and postcolonial theory, contemporary art practice, and accessibility within the arts.
