Faisal Hussain

Faisal Hussain is an artist who graduated from Falmouth Art College in 1999. His portfolio of work spans public art, film, sculpture, audio, and text art. His artwork is part of permanent collections in the Manchester Art Gallery, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, and Urban Nation, Berlin.

Recently, he has completed a three-year-long project funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund which involved archiving one of the largest South Asian record collections in the UK and creating and curating new works. This work has been featured on BBC 6 Music and in articles in the Guardian and Vinyl Factory as well as being nominated for the Best Event AMA award for the exhibition Request Line at the Manchester Museum’s new South Asia Gallery.

Faisal is the director of True Form Projects which has recently been awarded a three year grant to develop the organization and its archive of over 3000 vinyl records. He curated and produced the Four Fathers project shown at the Library of Birmingham and the ‘History Of Asian Youth Culture‘ project shown at Birmingham City University’s Parkside Gallery and at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, where he also worked with the team and the University of Birmingham on the Pre-Raphaelite collection.
