Helen Hillyard

Helen Hillyard is Curator at Dulwich Picture Gallery. She was co-curator of the exhibition Rembrandt’s Light (2019/20), and an author for the accompanying catalogue. She was previously the Assistant Curator at Dulwich and has worked in the curatorial departments of the National Gallery and Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. She studied History of Art at the University of Cambridge and the Courtauld Institute of Art.

Helen’s research interests lie with 17th century Dutch painting, and the impact of Dutch artists working in Britain. She is particularly interested in the production of paintings for middle-class audiences, aimed at the lower-end of the market.
