Inês Jorge (she/her) is an independent researcher and curator. She holds a PhD in History of Art from the University of Birmingham, with a dissertation examining craft-based exhibitions of contemporary art held in Portugal and the UK between 2012 and 2022.
Inês has published her research in peer-reviewed publications such as The Journal of Modern Craft and Journal of Curatorial Studies. She is co-guest editor of two special issues on exhibiting craft in The Journal of Modern Craft, alongside Dr Claire Jones and Dr Imogen Hart.
In addition to this, she worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Art History, Curating and Visual Studies of the University of Birmingham, and at the Lisbon College of Education. Since 2023, she is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
Inês has also curated exhibitions in Lisbon, Leiria, and Vienna and collaborated in research projects on local educational practices, and on the integration of immigrants through the visual arts, music, and theatre. She was an active member of two youth collectives in Lisbon, FAZ 15-25 (Museu Arpad Szènes – Vieira da Silva) and Anexo (Arquivo 237), where she developed community-art projects, organised debates, led museum tours, and devised educational activities.
