Jez Dolan is an artist and performance maker living and working in Manchester (UK). His practice underlines the intersections between queerness, sexuality, identity and memory. He works across multiple platforms including drawing, performance, printmaking and most recently painting.
Jez’s work is held in a public and private collections internationally including at the British Museum, Bury Art Museum, the (UK) Government Art Collection, the Leslie Lohman Museum NYC, the Schwules* Museum Berlin, the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool and others.
Jez was the first artist-in-residence at Manchester Art Gallery for Derek Jarman – PROTEST (2021 – 22) where he created a new body of work including BED – In Memory of Derek Jarman, and the large-scale public performance The Canonisation of David Hoyle. His work also featured in the exhibition (Un)Defining Queer – Whitworth Art Gallery (2023), and Coming Out – Sexuality, Gender and Identity – Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool 2017 – 18. He has recently shown film and performance works in Reykjavik, Iceland and Tirana, Albania.
Jez holds a Masters in Queer Studies in Visual Art & Culture from Birmingham School of Art.
