Jiye Choi (she/her) is currently the project manager of the International Curator Course at the Gwangju Biennale Foundation, where she coordinates the programme and supports emerging curators from diverse backgrounds. Her work focuses on institutional research and curatorial development in relation to biennales as platforms that reflect sociopolitical conditions and foster civic engagement. She manages collaborative initiatives such as the ongoing partnership with the Documenta Institut Kassel, contributing to broader inquiries into the role of cultural institutions in shaping regional identity, global discourse, and curatorial ethics. Jiye holds a BA in Arts and Crafts from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul and an MA in Arts and Cultural Management from King’s College London. Her research explored soft power strategies in the global expansion of the Korean art scene, focusing on the positioning of emerging artists based abroad – particularly in London – and the curatorial frameworks that support them. Her current interests include cross-cultural methodologies, transnational art infrastructures, and the ways curatorial practice negotiates mobility, identity, and power within and beyond institutional settings.
