Joe Turnbull

Joe Turnbull (he/him/his) is the Assistant Editor of Disability Arts Online (DAO), an arts charity led by disabled people that fosters creativity and critique. DAO publishes an online magazine focussed on arts and culture from disabled perspectives. It also runs talent development programmes for disabled creatives and consultancy for the wider arts sector (clients have included British Council, Arts Council, MIMA etc.). DAO has been engaging with the theme of curation within the visual arts for several years.

Joe comes from a background in arts journalism/criticism and has written for a number of publications including The Guardian, Frieze, Apollo Magazine, Garageland and thisistomorrow. Joe also works with artists and organisations in a freelance capacity, offering production support with elements of curation, access provision and digital events delivery.

BAN has a membership of over 1,000. All are actively involved in curatorial practice and theory in the field of British art. You can use the search function at the top right of the page to locate members according to their research interests or institutional affiliations.
This Directory currently includes bursary holders and members of the Steering Group.  The Directory is in the process of being developed so that it will eventually include profiles for all Members who wish to be included.
