Julie Brown

Julie Brown is Collections Curator at The New Art Gallery Walsall where they manage, display, interpret and promote access to Walsall’s public art collections, archives and art library. Julie is passionate about democratising culture, and the use of collections to promote equity and inclusion and wellbeing. They are particularly interested in modern and contemporary British art, work by women artists, and the exploration of motherhood and mental health in art. They have previously been co-lead of the Post War British Painting in Regional Collections research group and now supports the Working Class British Art group, in their role as steering group member of Museum as Muck.  Julie is also an Associate Member of the Museums Association and alumni of the Clore Leadership Programme.

BAN has a membership of over 1,000. All are actively involved in curatorial practice and theory in the field of British art. You can use the search function at the top right of the page to locate members according to their research interests or institutional affiliations.
This Directory currently includes bursary holders and members of the Steering Group.  The Directory is in the process of being developed so that it will eventually include profiles for all Members who wish to be included.
