Katherine Hardwick-Kulpa is Assistant Curator of the Devonshire Collection at Chatsworth. She is a decorative arts curator with a research interest in the development of historic interiors. She holds degrees in history and architectural history from Durham and Cambridge Universities, and formerly worked for both Christie’s and Purcell. She then spent six years as collections coordinator at Holkham Hall, Norfolk, where she researched diverse aspects of the family and collection, publishing on the collecting habits of members of the Coke family, the furnishing of eighteenth century Holkham, and William Kent’s architectural designs. She previously also served as early career development coordinator for the Furniture History Society, and as exhibitions volunteer at Sir John Soane’s Museum. Her research interests are varied and include aristocratic networks of patronage; female agency in collecting and design; the Palladian interior; and the form and function of country house interiors.
