Katherine Murphy is a Scottish independent Curator and Producer, living in Glasgow Scotland. With a background in contemporary philosophy, she has a passion for developing expanded forms of feminist artist and curatorial practices. For the past ten years she’s developed her practice within artist-run and not for profit gallery spaces, whilst working on curatorial projects for arts organisations and international arts festivals such as Cooper Gallery in Dundee and Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Art. She has worked closely with artists on major commissions for prominent national and international art institutions, museums and galleries.
Katherine loves working closely and collaborating with and learning from incredible artists, writers and curators. Recently, she has been setting forward the conditions required for an independent, feminist curatorial practice to thrive. She’s interested in curating with and through methods of unfolding, embracing the intimate, lived experience as a place to learn from and share our lived experiences with others, exploring ideas using practices of care and understanding carelessness, whilst finding a political voice in the uncanny moments, in life and our everyday encounters.
