Lesley Taker

Lesley Taker is a Liverpool-based freelance curator and creative producer with 15 years of experience in visual and digital art, and art and technology. This includes large-scale installations, moving image, music and sound art, immersive experiences, and artworks that use XR and gaming. She is experienced in institutional and freelance practice, working with established and emerging artists, locally and internationally. Her work is concerned with how technology reshapes contemporary art, particularly around fluid identities, shifting truths, and unstable narratives. She is committed to creating space for underserved voices and perspectives with a focus on inclusivity, access, and transparency.

Lesley worked at FACT Liverpool for over a decade, initially as a curator, producer, and manager but more recently focusing on artist development, incubation, and experimentation within digital art. Her most recent project there was the design and development of a new artist-focused production space for digital creatives, Studio/Lab, which launched Spring 2024.

She has developed new work and ambitious presentations with artists such as Larry Achiampong & David Blandy; Morehshin Allahyari; Uma Breakdown; Cecile B. Evans; Shona Illingworth; Ryoichi Kurokawa; Marianna Simnett; Wu Tsang and Agnes Varda. Lesley’s writing has appeared in major art publications, as well as local and national arts press.
