Lily Donaldson (she/her) is a British artist who produces works exploring ideas of home and memory. Lily’s work delves into the concept of palimpsest, exploring the layers and traces left on the body over time.
Lily moved to the UK from Germany at seven years old because her father was in the army, which left her disconnected from the notion of home. Working primarily with oil paint, she plays with the nuances of memory and identity, while also experimenting with film and sculpture to expand her visual language. A graduate of Central Saint Martins in 2021, Lily now works from her studio in Kings Cross, and continues to investigate the complex intersections between the body, history, and the passage of time.
