Mohamed Ahmed is Assistant Professor of Archaeology & Museum Studies at Silk Road University-Samarkand-Uzbekistan, a Postdoctoral Associate Researcher at the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology (IFAO), and was previously a director of collection management at the Museum of Islamic art in Cairo. He holds a master’s degree on the subject of Indian Mughal carpets and a PhD in Islamic Chinese arts and Chinese influences in Japanese and Korean Art between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. Mohamed trained in museology at the British Museum in London, in the Louvre, and also received scholarships for study in Germany and the UK. He also teaches Islamic arts and museology in Arabic, English.
Mohamed has published seven scientific research papers, twelve books in Islamic Art & Museology, and has been awarded over five international prizes for publications in his field. His current research focuses on the principles and policy of museum collection management in the UK, and how to understand and reconsider Victorian collections.
