Dr Naomi Billingsley is a research professional, museum trustee and independent researcher. She is currently the Research Manager at the Courtauld, leading pre- and post-award grant management, coordinating preparation for research assessment exercises, and contributing to developing of research policy, strategy and partnerships. Prior to joining the Courtauld, Naomi worked in Research Development team at the British Library.
Naomi is a member of the AHRC’s Peer Review College and a Trustee of the Huguenot Museum.
Naomi’s own research interests primarily centre on biblical painting and illustration in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. She has also researched and published on twentieth century ecclesiastical art in England, biblical art from a broader range of locations and periods, and the study of correspondence. Her PhD was on William Blake’s images of Christ, which resulted in The Visionary Art of William Blake (I.B. Tauris, 2018) and several essays and online curatorial projects. Naomi continues to publish as an independent researcher. Her current publication project focuses on the formation and reception of the Macklin Bible, emerging from her Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (2017–2019).
