Nicole-Ann Lobo is a joint PhD candidate in the Department of Art & Archaeology and the Council of Humanities at Princeton University. Her dissertation examines the artists, activists, writers, and jazz musicians who forged aesthetic and political solidarities while bringing about the end of empire in twentieth-century western India and East Africa, particularly Goa and Mozambique. Nicole-Ann is passionate about teaching, and has taught undergraduate precepts under Irene Small and Hal Foster on topics pertaining to global modernisms. She also volunteers with Princeton’s Prison Teaching Initiative, and has taught art appreciation within carceral facilities in New Jersey state. Within Princeton, she has co-facilitated collaborative learning spaces including the Third Cinema Film Group and the Palestine Arts Reading Group.
