Priya Chauhan is a curator, researcher, and arts manager based in New Delhi, India. She currently serves as a curator and collection manager at Devi Art Foundation, where she has assisted in curating several contemporary art and textile exhibitions. She was also the curator for the “ART ACROSS –– ”, the Talks Programme for India Art Fair’s 15th edition, where she facilitated critical dialogues around contemporary art and culture. Additionally, she teaches an elective course on Museum Curation at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi.
Priya holds a Master’s in History of Art from the National Museum Institute, New Delhi. Her thesis focused on the visual representation of Delhi in the nineteenth century across various media, exploring how the personification and documentation of a city play a crucial role in shaping its narrative. This theme of urban portrayal continues to be central to her research practice.
Her interest in British art stems from the colonial period’s impact on the patronage and documentation of Indian art, viewed through a decolonial lens. She is also deeply engaged in repatriation studies, exploring how narratives of South Asian art are framed within British institutions.
