Dr Rachel Sloan is Associate Curator for Works on Paper at The Courtauld Gallery. Working across the collection, her interest in British art spans the late eighteenth to the early twentieth century and she has a particular interest in landscape and the work of women artists. Exhibitions and displays she has curated include Vanessa Bell: A Pioneer of Modern Art (2024), Helen Saunders: Modernist Rebel (2022-23) and A Dialogue with Nature: Romantic Landscapes from Britain and Germany (2014).
Prior to joining The Courtauld Gallery in 2012, Rachel worked as graduate intern in the Drawings Department of the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles (2009-2010) and as curatorial research fellow at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art (2010-2011). She holds an MA and PhD from The Courtauld Institute of Art and a BA from Washington University in St Louis.
