Dr Sadia Sadia is a practicing artist and academic with interests in neuroaesthetics, emotion and the installation environment. Her PhD dissertation ‘The Sacred Ground: Enhancing and Constructing the Transcendent State in the Immersive Installation Environment’ sought to define a ‘methodology for transcendence’, and examined the key drivers of how and why audiences may have profound, life-changing experiences within encompassing works of art.
Her publications include ‘Empirical Methodologies and the Value of Subjectivity in the Analysis of the Experience of Contemporary Experiential Art’ (Art & Perception, 9(1), Brill).
She received her M.Sc. in Political Science and Economics (Gender) from the University of London, an M.A. in Design Studies from the University of the Arts (UK), and a Ph.D. in Fine Art from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.
As an artist, her work has been screened internationally including the Cinémathèque Française and the Melbourne International Film Festival and forms part of permanent collections including the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).
Sadia is a Senior Industry Fellow at RMIT Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (SoA) and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts (UK). Her studio is based at Real World Studios in Wiltshire, UK.
