Dr Sophie Guo is a London-based art historian, curator, and Associate Lecturer at The Courtauld Institute of Art. Her research explores how biotechnology and advanced biomedicine shape artistic imaginaries related to the body, gender, race, and ecology within transnational Sinophone cultures from the late 1980s to the present. Her research interests encompass visual medical humanities, parafiction and mythmaking, feminist and queer technoscience, politics of migration, and the use of colonial medical archives in contemporary art.
Sophie has previously conducted curatorial research on Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art at the Barbican Centre and worked on public art projects with Art Pioneer Studio in Shanghai.
