Sophie Ridsdale-Smith

Sophie Ridsdale-Smith is the Exhibitions and Collections Assistant at The Lightbox. Her role involves caring for the Ingram Collection, which is housed at The Lightbox, and planning and coordinating exhibitions at The Lightbox. Sophie’s recent curatorial projects include Bridget Riley: Pleasures of Sight (2021) and Unquiet Moments: Capturing the Everyday (2020, an online exhibition).

Sophie is also the co-founder of Hang it, a free online platform for young people looking to enter the art world. Hang it offers short podcast episodes capturing conversations with fellow graduates, industry professionals and practicing artists.

Sophie studied at The Courtauld Institute of Art, earning an MA in Curating in 2020, where she focused on contemporary curating in a global pandemic. During her studies, Sophie completed curatorial placements at Royal Academy of Art and the Barbican.
