Stephanie Douet is a sculptor, painter and exhibition organiser/curator working from her studio in the Norfolk countryside. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally since 1997. She has a BA (Hons) in Greek and Roman art from the University of East Anglia and an MA in Fine Art from Norwich University of the Arts.
Since 2000 she has organised over 75 self-funded exhibitions for over 150 artists in alternative art spaces, including the Queen of Hungary mediaeval weavers’ hall gallery space for four years, an outdoor sculpture weekend at Taverham Hall School, a sci-art exhibition at Waxham Great Barn, and a programme of funded exhibitions in Strangers Hall Museum. She also received Arts Council England awards for solo exhibitions including one at the Museum of Science, Technology & Medicine in Oxford, a performance in Rishangles Church, Suffolk and a residency and exhibition at Modern Art Oxford.
Douet encourages artists to find independent, interesting and advantageous locations in which to exhibit, using initiative and original strategies to raise their profile and support their careers both within and outside establishment structures. She also supports Frank, fair pay for artists.
