Stephen Hyde is a London-based photographer who is currently writing a book on his great grandfather, the eminent Victorian photographer and writer P.H. Emerson (1856-1936). Besides leaving a luminous body of work—predominantly centred on the people and landscapes of the Norfolk Broads—he also placed himself at the heart of the debate raging at the time as to whether photography was indeed ‘Art’. He would love to hear from anyone who could help him arrange an exhibition of his works, in the UK or abroad, or who might be interested in helping with the publication of the book.
Stephen’s own photographic career has been mostly commercial, though he has himself been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery and has many works in their collection.
