Vicky Panossian (she/her) is currently a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick. Her project is funded by the Chancellor’s International Scholarship. She is working on the tokens of cultural identification of Arabic-speaking migrant communities in the UK.
She is specifically interested in issues pertaining to object-oriented histories of migration. Her research explores topics related to migrant identity formation, object preservation and inheritance as well as the role of objects in defining the familial histories of migration. She works on issues of object authenticity and its relational value to oral histories of migration.
Vicky’s research methods involve the use of creative workshops, including ones that focus on sculpting and moulding methods adopted from art therapy practices. She is also the co-convenor of Warwick University’s Material Culture Network which brings together postgraduate students from different disciplines who work on and with material culture.
