Vicky Richardson is an independent curator, writer and educator specialising in contemporary and twentieth century architecture and design. An Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, she has held senior positions in museums, cultural and educational institutes including as Head of Architecture and Drue Heinz Curator at the Royal Academy of Arts and Director of Architecture, Design and Fashion at the British Council. From 2010 to 2016 she was Commissioner of the British Pavilion at Venice Architecture Biennale.
Vicky has curated exhibitions around the world including the architecture section of the inaugural Guangzhou Design Triennial (2024); Herzog & de Meuron, Royal Academy of Arts (2023); Light Lines: the architectural photographs of Hélène Binet, RA (2020), and What Where: crossing boundaries in the architecture of Sala Beckett, Roca London Gallery (2019).
Vicky is a prolific writer on architecture and is former editor of leading design magazine Blueprint (2004-2010). Her published work includes New Vernacular Architecture (Laurence King, 2010) and many exhibition catalogues. She is a thesis tutor at the Bartlett School of Architecture has held academic roles, including Associate Director of London School of Architecture, and served as Honorary Treasurer of the Architectural Association.
