Yan Xie

Yan Xie (she/her) is a curator based in London who looks to engage diverse communities with artistic practice. Her focus is on participatory art and the relationships it generates with participants, drawing upon ideas such as the power relations between institutions and individuals, antagonism in participatory art, collaborative art, and approaches to democratisation. She has practised and worked in museums, galleries, auction houses, art fairs, and other art institutions for over eight years. Yan graduated with an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art. Since 2023, Xie has served as an assistant curator at the London Art Collective. Xie has also been longlisted for the 10th edition of the Jimei × Arles Curatorial Award for Photography and Moving Image 2024.
