They are an artist-curator who lives and works in Birmingham.
Their practice is varied – and includes curating exhibitions, painting, writing and photography.
Yas’ research interests revolve around contemporary art made by Black, Brown and Queer people. They are especially interested in artists who critique the concept of ‘British Art’ using multi-disciplinary art mediums and inclusive formats. This can include work which examines themes of biomaterial, lost craft, folklore, religion, disability and multi-heritage-ness.
