Yuansheng Luo is a PhD researcher in architectural history and theory at the Department of Architecture at KU Leuven. His research focuses on global architectural history, particularly the exchange of art and architecture between China and the West during the long nineteenth century. He has a keen interest in Chinoiserie as depicted in English and French print media, including newspapers, travelogues, and exhibition catalogues. Luo has presented his work at forums such as the ‘Exhibition as Research’ Seminar in Oslo (2024), the Peking University International Doctoral Forum on Art in Beijing (2022), and the ‘Fine Arts and Communication: The 4th Tan Hua Lin (International) Young Scholars Forum’ in Wuhan (2022). His scholarly contributions have been featured in journals including Art (美术), Journal of Art Theory & Art History (艺术理论与艺术史学刊), Image Historical Studies (形象史学), Art Journal (美术学报), Art Panorama (美术大观), Medieval and Renaissance Studies (中世纪与文艺复兴研究), and the Journal of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts (湖北美术学院学报).
