On the 22nd March 2024, Generator Projects (an artist-run gallery in Dundee, Scotland) hosted a symposium to open the exhibition, State of Print. This symposium featured over twenty speakers from a range of disciplines speaking on the broad theme of contested land, with particular emphasis on printed matter and the making of state. The symposium had speakers joining internationally, many from Ireland and Scotland to reflect the themes within the exhibition itself. Many of the speakers were leading academics with international reputations, who shared the stage with emerging artists, students, recent graduates and members of the local community. The event was free to attend and tickets sold out online, with more made available in a second release. There were over 100 attendees, both online and in-person.
