This major conference offered by the British Art Network, the European Paintings pre-1900 network, and the Understanding British Portraits professional network examined the motivations behind exhibition programming, practical challenges faced by programmers, and the future of exhibitions.
The conference panels addressed questions around the decision-making, delivery, and consumption of temporary exhibitions.
Speakers included Dr Ellen McAdam, Birmingham Museums Trust; Dr Helen Pheby, Yorkshire Sculpture Park; Emma Ridgway, Modern Art Oxford; Anne Stewart and Hannah Crowdy, National Museums Northern Ireland; Grace Todd and Nicholas Thornton, National Museum Wales; Jess Thom, Touretteshero; Julie Milne, Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums; Ruth Brimacombe, independent scholar; Cathy Waters, University of Kent; Rosie Wilson, National Portrait Gallery.
The conference panels were chaired by Gabriele Finaldi, Director of the National Gallery; Alex Farquharson, Director of Tate Britain; Nicholas Cullinan, Director of the National Portrait Gallery.
