ECG 2023
This fifth iteration of the Emerging Curators Group was active from February to October 2023.
The group met in person in Leeds (Leeds Art Gallery) and Middlesbrough (MIMA and Pineapple Black Gallery) as well as having a number of sessions online, including one on Slow Curating with Megan Arney Johnston. They received research support from BAN Convenor Martin Myrone and from George Vasey (Teesside University), and further support throughout the programme from BAN Steering Group members Basil Olton and Tony Heaton.
Three collaborative trips were supported for members of the group: one to explore the arts ecology in Leeds, another to build relationships with artist-run organisations in Belfast, and the third to look at pavilion architecture at the Venice Biennale 2024.
