Event | Art in Schools: Getting Culture Back on the Agenda

UP Projects
Online
Wednesday 12 February 2025, 14:00–15:15 GMT

Join UP Projects as they invite artists Abbas Zahedi and Cathy Wade, who both bring extensive experience engaging with schools and working with educators and young people, to offer their perspectives on the current issue of cultural education being downgraded in schools, and no longer prioritised in the UK School curriculum.

Often artists are expected to fill the gap by delivering creative projects within school settings. This event will explore what the long-term consequences of this approach might be, how creative practitioners can develop stronger relationships with schools, and how we can get art back on the education agenda at policy level. The discussion will be moderated by Steve Moffitt, CEO of A New Direction, the award-winning not-for-profit organisation generating opportunities for children and young people to develop their creativity.

This is the third of UP Projects’ Constellations ° Assemblies 2024a series of three online events open to all artists, curators, practitioners, commissioners, communities, and those working across public art, social practice and regeneration.

Find out more information and book your place on the UP Projects website.
