Outside In are hosting a special digital seminar with the European Outsider Art Association (EOA): Balancing History – The Artist, The Patient and The Clinician.
Artworks made in healthcare settings, more specifically psychiatric hospitals, have seen a rise in donations to heritage collections in recent years. The task of cataloguing, conserving and honouring these pieces is a large undertaking with many intersecting skills.
Many questions surround the receipt of donated work, some practical, some ethical with even the inclusion of an artist’s name being a matter of debate.
The webinar will focus on three main areas of discussion and in the form of breakout rooms, experts will guide conversation and offer insight on:
