Funding Opportunities | Paul Mellon Centre

Paul Mellon Centre’s spring 2025 round of funding opportunities is now open for applications. This round is primarily designed to support individuals undertaking research, projects and activities concerned with British art. The majority of these opportunities for individuals are offered as Fellowships which are designed to allow individuals the time and funding support to concentrate on undertaking uninterrupted research towards their project.

The Fellowships on offer are:

  • Senior Fellowship
    Awards of up to £60,000 to support a senior scholar for twelve months.
  • Mid-Career Fellowships
    Awards of up to £18,000 to support an individual at a mid-career level for four months.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships
    Awards of up to £15,000 to support an individual who has recently completed their PhD for six months.
  • Junior Fellowships
    Awards of up to £8,000 to support an internationally based PhD student travel to the UK for three months of research.
  • Rome Fellowship
    An award for an individual to stay at the British School at Rome for three months whilst undertaking research.

PMC is also offering the New Narratives suite of awards again this year. These awards are designed to increase the diversity of perspectives among individuals in the field of British art:

  • MA/MPhil Studentship
    An award of £32,000 designed to support the fees and living costs of an individual undertaking an MA.
  • Doctoral Scholarship
    An award of £32,000 a year for three years designed to support the fees and living costs of an individual undertaking a PhD.
  • Early Career Fellowship
    An award of £35,000 a year for two years designed to support an individual at an early career level undertaking a research project.

Alongside these Fellowships, PMC is also pleased to be able to offer Research Support Grants, awards of up to £2,000 designed to support research travel costs, and Event Support Grants, awards of up to £3,000 to support organisations in hosting events such as symposia, lectures and workshops.
