UP Projects: Constellations ° Assemblies 2024
Online
Wednesday 25 September 2024, 14:00–15:15 BST

UP Projects, the UK’s leading public art organisation specialising in socially engaged public art commissioning, announces the launch of Constellations ° Assemblies 2024, a learning and development programme for artists, curators, practitioners, commissioners, communities, and all those interested in the expanded field of public art.

Curated by UP Projects, the programme will explore pressing issues relevant to the public art sector across three public online events taking place between September 2024 and February 2025 and featuring a diverse range of UK and international speakers:

  • Dread Scott: How Can We Harness Political Energy? 25 September 2024 [online 14:00–15:15 BST]
  • Pushing for Culture-Based Climate Action 13 November 2024 [online 14:00–15:15 GMT]
  • Art In Schools: Getting Culture Back on the Agenda 12 February 2025 [online 14:00–15:15 GMT]

Constellations ° Assemblies 2024 will launch with an event featuring American artist Dread Scott, who operates at the intersection of art and activism, alongside Zoé Whitley, Director of Chisenhale Gallery and member of the Greater London Authority’s Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm. Following a keynote presentation of his projects including Slave Rebellion Re-enactment (2019), Scott will be in conversation with curator, Zoé Whitley exploring the role large scale and monumental interventions in public space can have in amplifying diverse histories and harnessing political energy.

The events will be accessible via UP Projects’ digital participation space, The Hall, and will take place on Zoom. To enable access to this high-quality programme, UP Projects operates a ‘Pay What You Can’ ticketing policy for Assemblies and Forums, with a suggested donation of £5 per event.
