Job Opportunity | Chisenhale Gallery

Director
Chisenhale Gallery, London
Full-time, permanent contract
Salary: £60,000 per annum
Application deadline: Monday 27 January 2025, 17:00 GMT

The Board of Trustees is appointing a new Director of Chisenhale Gallery. This is a fantastic opportunity for a gifted and committed individual to shape the future of one of London’s most important contemporary art spaces at a pivotal point in its development.

The new Director will combine a compelling curatorial vision, proven managerial skills, outstanding ambassadorial and fundraising skills, and a deep commitment to developing artists’ practices and bringing their work to the widest possible audiences. The successful candidate will also have an excellent track record of building communities, both local and international, and the ambition to lead Chisenhale Gallery through a crucial juncture.

The lease on the existing premises will expire in 2032. We are looking for a Director who can successfully advocate for Chisenhale Gallery, and creatively approach the challenge ahead, which includes securing Chisenhale Gallery’s future premises and taking on the capital campaign to deliver them.

The new Director will closely align with the mission and values of Chisenhale Gallery, with a genuine passion for nurturing emerging artists and colleagues, and for promoting diversity and equality of opportunity in contemporary visual art. The role will appeal to candidates excited by the opportunity to secure the future of one of the UK’s most revelatory and vital art organisations, where enthusiasm, skills and experience will make a real difference.

Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held on Thursday 6 February 2025.
