The Equiano Family Project at St Andrew’s Church, Chesterton, Cambridge, are seeking an artist to design a new Stained-glass window to commemorate the celebrated author and abolitionist Olaudah Equiano (1745-1797) and his family.
The Equiano Family Project is an arts, education and cultural initiative based at St Andrew’s Church and launched in 2024, designed to promote awareness and reflection on the Equiano family story in Chesterton, and the wider Cambridge Community.
Olaudah’s daughter Anna Maria Vassa is buried in St Andrew’s churchyard and there’s an
historic epitaph to her on the church wall. This is an exciting opportunity for artists to engage with the Equiano family story and all that it embodies, including it’s importance to British and Black transatlantic history.
UK-based artists.
If you’re an artist creating a design, then collaborating with a stained glass workshop to make and install: £6,000.
If you’re a stained glass artist generating a design, then making plus installation including materials: £30,000 + VAT.
