“British Art Network” launched

“The British Art SSN initiative was launched on 21 December 2012 and information about the network was emailed to 140 professionals working with British art, as well as distributed to subscribers of the Museums Association, Arts Council England and Collections Link. Steering Group terms of reference was drafted and invitation to Steering Group members issued.” (from Tate report to Arts Council England, 2013)

“The collaborative approach to sharing collection knowledge and curatorial ideas tested as part of the Great British Art Debate has been instrumental in shaping the British Art Network. This new subject” specialist network, supported by Arts Council England, brings together professionals working with British art, including curators, researchers and academics.
The aim is to contribute to the sharing of expertise and research across regional and national, urban and rural arts organisations. Since its launch in December 2012, more than ninety organisations and 150 individuals across the UK have joined. The network will collaborate with partners and academics to develop research seminars covering British art from the sixteenth century to the present day with a broad remit including painting, sculpture, installations, graphic art, performance, photography and film.” (from the Tate Annual Report 2012/13)
