Heather Sturdy

Heather Sturdy is the Head of National Partnerships at Tate. Based at Tate Liverpool, she leads a team in delivering national activity and projects that help all four of Tate’s sites to share the national collection, support the visual arts sector and work closely with partners to build skills, knowledge and capacity across a range of disciplines. As well as the British Art Network they work with the Plus Tate network, a group of 48 contemporary visual arts organisations, the Turner Prize when it is hosted outside of London and many other national collaborations.

Heather previously worked in the Development department at Tate as the Head of Programmes and Public Sector, overseeing the successful fundraising efforts for exhibitions, learning and collection care programmes. Previously she has worked at the South London Gallery, Frieze Art Fair and the V&A in fundraising and public programming roles. She spent several years in California working at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art leading a range of groups that supported their curatorial teams. Heather maintains a personal interest in the L.A. art scene and evolving cultural landscape.

Heather has a Masters degree in Art History and has dedicated her career to the museums and gallery sector. She is motivated in her current role to enable organisations and individuals working in the visual arts to thrive through positive collaborations and partnerships.
