Dawn Hoskin

Dawn Hoskin is a Cultural Heritage Curator with the National Trust, working across the Midlands and East of England, and Curatorial Lead for the NT’s LGBTQ+ Steering Group. She is also a freelance curator and researcher.

Dawn has a background in Fine Art and an MA in Art Museum & Gallery Studies from Newcastle University. She has worked in numerous museums, galleries, libraries and supported local history groups. She held a variety of curatorial roles at the Victoria & Albert Museum and was in the team that redeveloped the Europe 1600-1815 Galleries.

Dawn’s interests span a wide variety of subjects, from the 17th century to the present day, including art, craft and curation as social justice activism and LGBTQ+ histories.

Dawn curated We Are Queer Britain! (July 2022 – April 2023) the first exhibition for Queer Britain, the UK’s first national LGBTQ+ museum. She provides curatorial support to Queer Britain, is a Steering Group member of the Queer Heritage & Collections Network and member of the Queer British Art research group.

She is currently in a research project team with the NT and Oxford University looking at Histories of Childhood within the NT and the broader subject of Children and Heritage.
